FieldFinders

How it works

Every step,
start to finish.

Two journeys through the same marketplace. Pick the one you are on.

  1. 01

    Create your account

Email or Apple, under a minute. Choose detectorist when it asks, and the app sets itself up around finding land rather than listing it.

  2. 02

    Build your profile

Name, photograph, roughly where you are based and what you swing. A landowner sees this when you ask for a day on their ground, and a filled-in profile gets accepted a great deal more often than an empty one.

  3. 03

    Verify your identity

A government document and a selfie, checked by our verification provider. The documents are held by the provider and never by us. Nothing is bookable until it clears, because the whole reason landowners list is that the person who turns up is accountable.

  4. 04

    Find ground worth a day

Filter by state, county, acreage, price and what is on the land, or work the map: LiDAR relief for what the ground used to be, historical topographic quads for what stood on it, and the restricted layer for where you must not go. Save what looks promising.

  5. 05

    Request the day

Instant or by request, depending on what the owner set. Your payment is taken and held, not sent. Say when you plan to arrive.

  6. 06

    Get accepted, get the detail

Until somebody accepts you, a listing shows an approximate area. On acceptance the exact boundary opens up, along with which entrance to use and where to put the truck.

  7. 07

    Sign the search agreement

Both names, the dates, the boundary and what happens to anything you find. Signed before the visit and kept in your account. This is the written permission you show anybody who asks what you are doing there.

  8. 08

    Work the day

Follow the pin to the entrance the owner named. Record dig tracks where you have actually swung so you finish the field instead of covering the same forty yards four times. Tap Analyse anywhere to pull every active layer together for that spot.

  9. 09

Rate the day, log the finds

Three screens when you are done: rate the day, log what came out with photographs, and watch your finds collection build. The log sits against the booking, so you and the landowner hold the same record of what left the ground.

  10. 10

    The landowner gets paid

The money you paid releases once the visit is marked complete. The service fee was shown before you confirmed and nothing is added afterwards.

More for detectorists

The document

Permission, in writing,
every single time.

A verbal yes at a farm gate protects nobody. It cannot say where the boundary was, which day was agreed, or what happens to the thing that came out of the ground. Every booking generates a search agreement carrying all three, signed by both parties before anyone sets foot on the land.

It is also what settles an argument six months later, when a find turns out to matter and memories differ. Read the standard wording before your first booking.

Ground near you that nobody has asked about.
